University Hospital Geelong – Ophthalmology Fellow 2025 - VIC

Applications are invited from advanced Ophthalmology trainee's for a 12 month full-time General Ophthalmology Fellowship (5th year position) at University Hospital Geelong. Part-time and 6 month contracts considered. Candidates are expected to have successfully completed RACE exams or be a current provisional Fellow and be performing routine ophthalmic surgery independently.

The Geelong Ophthalmology Unit is well supported with 13 Consultants including subspecialists in medical and surgical retina, glaucoma, oculoplastics, cornea, oncology, paediatrics and strabismus. There are three Ophthalmology registrars ( 2 accredited and 1 unaccredited ) with significant orthoptic support also. The unit provides Ophthalmology services to a large mix of general hospital patients, including accepting eye trauma/emergencies from the South West region of Victoria providing exposure to a wide range of ophthalmic conditions.

Full-time duties (pro rata Part-time) include:

  • six or seven operating lists per week

  • three or four OPD clinics per week

  • NO after hours on-call requirements

  • subspecialty interest can be accommodated

  • supervision of junior and senior registrars

  • medical student/optometry student teaching
