5th Year Registrar

A temporary vacancy exists for a 5th year Ophthalmology Registrar. It is not approved by the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists for training, but approval for this post can be obtained by the applicant from RANZCO, if required.

As an Ophthalmology Registrar, you will assess and initiate therapy for patients with ophthalmological problems in a range of general and sub-specialty ophthalmology clinics. This work will be supported by senior colleagues. Your duties will also include a number of managerial tasks such as (but not exclusively) organisation of registrar rotas, grand rounds etc. There will be a supervised surgical component by arrangement, depending on the Department's requirements.

Holding a Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent, you will be registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner. You will have completed 4 years of the RANZCO accredited training or equivalent, and demonstrate high level clinical skills in problem solving and decision making. A confident communicator who can work well as part of a team, you will display a strong commitment to providing a quality service to patients and their families.

Appointment will be subject to a satisfactory Criminal History Check. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants are encouraged to apply.
