RANZCO 2017: EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THIS YEAR'S CONGRESS IN PERTH

GETTING AROUND PERTH AND THE PERTH CONVENTION AND EXHIBITION CENTRE (PCEC)
Located in the heart of the CBD, a range of transport options exist to take you around the city from Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Taxi
Perth offers a professional taxi fleet service. Taxis can be flagged down from the kerbside and taxi ranks are located in several locations in the city, and at both Domestic and International airports.
Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre is a nominated Cab Spot location. The Cab Spot for PCEC number is 1088. To book a taxi, please contact:

Airport Shuttle
Airport Shuttles are available to transport you from the airport to hotels, motels and hostels around Perth. Tickets for a shuttle can be purchased at both the Domestic and International Airport Terminals.

Public Transport
Perth offers a convenient and safe public transport system that services the entire metropolitan area. Transperth operates all bus, train and ferry services in Perth. For all bus, train or ferry information please contact Transperth on 13 62 13 or visit their website.

Buses
A Free Transit Zone (FTZ) operates in the city and provides free public transport within the Perth city boundaries. Passengers can travel within this area for free. To identify the boundaries of the FTZ, bus stops are identified with the FTZ logo.

The Central Area Transit (CAT) system provides a free, fast and convenient bus service to the city’s points of interest. CAT buses are colour coded and Perth CAT stops offer real-time information for when the next bus is due. Perth offers three CAT routes around the city and weekday services run every five to fifteen minutes from 6:50am to 6:20pm (WST). A Blue CAT stop is located at the Elizabeth Quay Busport (adjacent to Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre).

Trains
Perth has an extensive train system that operates five railway lines linking to Perth suburbs and main hubs including Fremantle, Joondalup, Midland, Armadale and Mandurah. Services operate from 5:00am to midnight daily (2:00am on Saturday and Sunday).

Elizabeth Quay train station (located along the Mandurah and Joondalup Railway Line) is located at the doorstep of the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Ferries
Elizabeth Quay Jetty operates the Transperth ferry services across the Swan River, between Elizabeth Quay Jetty (Perth) and Mends Street Jetty (South Perth). The service operates daily from 7:50am to 7:20pm (extended times operate on weekdays and during the Summer months). Barrack Street Jetty is used for the services run to Rottnest Island, and Fremantle.

Hire Cars
There are a number of hire car companies that operate services directly from the Domestic and International Airport Terminals as well as in the Perth CBD to provide easy pick-up and drop-off access.

THE WEATHER

During spring, days are warm and sunny in Perth with average temperatures ranging from 11.7 - 23°C (53 - 73.4°F). While there is usually little rainfall at this time of year, it might be a good idea to bring an umbrella with some rain expected on Saturday 28 October and Sunday 29 October.

 
COLLECTING YOUR RANZCO 2017 NAME BADGE

On arrival at the venue you will be able to print your name badge at a registration kiosk by either scanning your unique QR Code (sent via email on 24 October 2017) or entering your access code.
Registration Desk Hours
The Registration Desk is located on level 2 of the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre. Please ensure you leave enough time to register, as the area can get very busy during peak times.

Please note: there will be free WiFi available at the Perth Convention & Exhibition Centre and updating the App regularly is recommended (tap the refresh button to update).

HOW TO TWEET WHILE AT CONGRESS

Congress is great time of year to engage with your peers as well as the wider healthcare community and the public in general. Tweeting is a great way for you to share your thoughts on key issues and events, and also keep track of what other members are doing. We’ve put together a short guide to help you maintain an active social media presence while at Congress:
1. Sign in to your Twitter account or create an account by visiting the Twitter website here
2. Type your Tweet into the box at the top of your Home timeline, or click the Tweet button in the top navigation bar
3. Make sure your update is fewer than 140 characters or else you won’t be able to publish your tweet. Also, make sure to use the Congress Hashtag #RANZCO17 and mention the speaker by using the @ symbol and mentioning their name e.g. @JohnSmith
4. Click the Tweet button to post the Tweet to your profile.
5. You will immediately see your Tweet in the timeline on your homepage.
