RANZCO New Position Statement: Progressive Myopia in Childhood

RANZCO’s Paediatric Ophthalmologists have launched a position statement on Progressive Myopia in Childhood. This provides guidance to RANZCO Fellows and other health professionals regarding best practice for the diagnosis and treatment of progressive myopia in children.

Myopia (near-sightedness) is one of the most common eye disorders worldwide. Did you know that 1 in 20 school-aged children develop either myopia or hyperopia (far-sightedness)? Early detection and intervention can prevent myopia from developing further and decrease the chances of developing serious eye conditions later in life.

Read the media release on what parents need to know to prevent myopia in their children and what to look out for.
