2024 King’s Birthday Honours – RANZCO Fellows and colleagues recognised for service and dedication

Congratulations the following RANZCO Fellows recognised in the King’s Birthday Honours:

Member (AM) in the General Division

  • Professor Glen Anthony Gole, AM (Qld)
    For significant service to ophthalmology, to tertiary education, and to professional organisations.
  • Dr Diana Bronwen Semmonds, AM (NSW)
    For significant service to ophthalmology, to regulatory bodies, and to professional organisations.

Medal (OAM) in the General Division

  • Dr James Edward Elder, OAM (VIC)
    For service to medicine as an ophthalmologist.

RANZCO Fellow and ANZPOS Chair Dr Caroline Catt acknowledges the achievements of Glen Gole and James Elder:

“They are both wonderful people – clever, hardworking, generous to their patients and as mentors, and beloved by their families and colleagues. Paediatric ophthalmology in Australia and ANZPOS is honoured to have these men amongst its members, and they fully deserve this recognition of their service.”

Congratulations also to our colleagues in the eye industry, on receiving the Medal (OAM) in the General Division:

  • Ms Emma Elizabeth Stanford, OAM (VIC) for her service to Indigenous eye health
  • Mrs Helen Christine Summers, OAM (NT) for her service to the community of the Northern Territory, and to optometry.
