We’re very pleased that the 2019 Australian Medical Training Survey results released today indicate a high rate of satisfaction with the Vocational Training Program amongst our Ophthalmology trainee cohort. Ophthalmology trainees rated their position at or above national response averages in a number of areas, including recommending their current training position to other doctors and recommending their current workplace as a place to train. Expectations of trainees are clear and well-communicated by the College.
The survey also identifies areas where RANZCO can continue to improve. We are actively working towards addressing these through a curriculum redesign project and by using feedback provided by the Australian Medical Council through its accreditation process.
RANZCO is committed to working with other medical colleges, jurisdictions and both state and federal health departments to address the issues identified in the survey. This will ensure that we not only deliver solutions that benefit Opthalmology trainees, but also contribute to improving the quality of training across the entire Australian medical workforce.
